2014 Prom Dress DesignersTis the season to wear heels, so girls let’s EMBRACE it!

A drop dead gorgeous pair of shoes to compliment your ball gown is the finishing touch on the most important night of the year – so don’t let the shoes be forgotten!

There is a lot to think about when choosing your ball shoes, so read here for all your style tips and advice.

Trousseau Shoes offers a range of shoe styles, colours and heel heights to let you stand out from the crowd. Visit our Auckland Showroom or look online and become a true Cindabella!

Q. Which shoe height would you recommend for the School Ball?
A. It all depends on what you are comfortable wearing – Flats, strappy, wedges etc. The ball night is not the night to be experimenting with a sky high stiletto for the first time. We find a lot of girls opt for a platform heel as it gives height, but also that extra stability for dancing the night away.

Q. When should we start looking for our School Ball shoes?
A. This differs depending on the girl. We have some girls who fall in love with a pair of shoes and work their entire outfit around them. The general rule is to get the dress first and then find a pair of shoes that will fit perfectly with the look you are going for.

Q. Should you bring your dress with you when choosing your shoes?
A. It’s always handy to have the dress or a colour swatch, but not essential. Many girls buy from us online and are perfectly fine. You will generally have an idea of what will work with your dress without having it physically there.

Q. What should we consider when choosing a shoe?
A. The heel height you are comfortable with, shoes that feel good to walk around in and of course the ‘wow’ factor - as we are girls after all!

Q. ‘The Dress’ or ‘The Shoe’, which comes first?
There are two ways to do this and we see both of these girls regularly! Give us a call or come into our Showroom and we can work with you whichever you decide is the way for you – we are experts in this field and know all the questions to ask.

Q. Do you suggest a “shoe fest” with the girls to break our shoes in?
A. Great question! A break in party is a fab idea…call it ball preparation and Mum and Dad won’t mind you skipping homework for the night. Walking around in your heels before the ball gives you a good indication of if and where you may need plasters, heel grips, inners etc.

Q. Colour wise should our shoes match our dress?
This is down to personal choice. Matching the shoes to the dress is a very classic/chic way to go. Trousseau can do this perfectly as many of our shoes in Ivory can by dyed to the exact colour you choose!
Alternatively, going for a really bold colour or metallic shoe can add that something special to your outfit. There is no right or wrong.

Q. Who should you take with you to choose your shoes?
You need someone you really trust to make sure you are choosing the right shoe – We recommend a Mum or a really close friend who will both encourage you to be confident in your decision to go ‘funky’ or ‘fun’ but equally will let you know if they think you should just try on this shoe to see… It’s amazing how someone else’s eye can sometimes identify a shoe you would not have gone for otherwise.

Q. And the BIG question…. How can I prevent blisters?
A. Unfortunately there is no absolute prevention here, buying a good quality pair of shoes will certainly help the cause and also making sure they fit nicely. Our advice though is to carry a couple of plasters in your clutch bag just in case.

Our last word for all you Cindabella’s out there is to have fun and use your shoes to express who you are. Remember the shoes will be in the photos for the rest of your life, so buy a pair you ABSOLUTELY adore!
